Case Study

A premium diapering experience, replatformed end to end.

Coterie set out to make the most ordinary part of parenting feel considered and premium. We took the brand through a full replatform onto headless Shopify Plus — from concept, photography and 3D production to the e-commerce UX/UI and the technical build.

01

The Challenge

Coterie is a cutting-edge American D2C brand rethinking one of the least glamorous corners of parenting: diapers, wipes and the everyday essentials. Through better composition and a subscription model, it has quietly changed how parents shop for these things — and the store had to live up to that ambition.

That meant an experience that feels soft, clean and genuinely premium, that makes the difference between products obvious, and that turns a first-time visitor into a subscriber without ever feeling like a hard sell. Getting there called for more than a new coat of paint — it called for a new platform.

02

The Approach

We ran a full replatform onto a headless Shopify Plus setup, and we owned the pipeline end to end. That started upstream of the browser — concept, photography and 3D asset production — so the imagery on the store was made for it, not borrowed into it.

From there the work moved into e-commerce UX/UI design and the technical implementation: a product architecture that guides parents by stage, education that answers the questions that stall a purchase, and a subscription flow built to feel effortless. Headless gave the front end the freedom to feel like a premium editorial brand while Shopify Plus did the commerce heavy lifting behind it.

The Solution

The storefront opens on the invitation to upgrade your diapering routine, set against the brand's own warm, human photography. Beneath it, the range is laid out the way parents actually think — a product for every stage, from the diaper to the pant to the 360° — so choosing is a matter of recognising your moment, not decoding a catalogue.

Product renders built in 3D let each item be shown with a precision photography alone can't, and the whole experience was designed mobile-first for the reality of one-handed, late-night shopping. The result reads as premium and calm, and shops as simply as the brand promises.

The Impact

Coterie came away with a storefront that matches the brand's premium promise and the platform to grow on.

  • A premium experience, end to end. Because the imagery, 3D and interface were made together, the store feels like one considered brand rather than assembled parts.

  • Headless where it counts. A headless Shopify Plus foundation frees the front end to feel editorial while the commerce stack stays robust and scalable.

  • Built around the parent. A stage-based architecture and a frictionless subscription flow turn a routine purchase into an easy, repeatable one.
